Through Social Services, Hendrick Cancer Center can connect patients and their family members to a variety of services designed for their benefit. Hendrick Cancer Center provides services designed to facilitate decision-making and to link patients to community resources while providing emotional support to patients and their family members. Our social worker at Hendrick Cancer Center is eager to assist with challenges such as financial concerns, medication costs, coping difficulties, transportation complications and other complexities families face. Whether there is an identified need or a patient makes a special request, Social Services at Hendrick Cancer Center is a pertinent part of our continuum of care.
Nutrition is a significant aspect of a cancer patient’s treatment. Therefore, Hendrick Cancer Center strives to provide resources for patients to make healthy, nutritious decisions throughout the treatment process.
A Taste for Better Living: Nutrition for Cancer Patients and Caregivers meets every third Thursday at the Hendrick Cancer Center. Topics include: Nutrition During Treatment, Symptom Management, Healthy Eating for Survivorship as well as topics unique to your journey. The Learning Center within Hendrick Cancer Center is a wonderful resource for cancer patients, caregivers, friends, family and anyone looking for more information about cancer. Information found in the Learning Center is intended to help patients and their families gather reliable information about their diagnosis. The internet can be a great resource but can also contain misleading, disparaging information. Resources in the Learning Center have been selected because they are not only enlightening but encouraging, as well. The Learning Center is conveniently located inside Hendrick Cancer Center and is open Monday- Thursday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m.–noon.
The Learning Center also offers Tobacco Cessation counseling for anyone ready to quit tobacco for good. Counseling is free.
