High school students who graduate from Hendrick Healthcare Academy may be eligible for a scholarship from Abilene Christian University (ACU). The university recently announced it is offering up to $80,000 in scholarships and grants to local high school students who complete Hendrick Healthcare Academy and choose a healthcare-related major at ACU following graduation.
Hendrick Healthcare Academy, launched in 2023, is one of Hendrick Health’s long-term workforce development strategy to partner with local and regional colleges and universities to grow its employee ranks in Abilene and Brownwood. The initiative aims to encourage students from Abilene, Brownwood and the surrounding area to pursue studies in psychology, social work or various health professions, with the hope they will remain in the region for their college education and future careers.
“We are able to offer these incredible hands-on experiences for our students because of the resources offered by institutions like ACU,” said Toni Brockway, director of Workforce Development at Hendrick Health. “This generous scholarship makes a significant impact for students in the Big Country pursuing futures in healthcare.”
Applications for the next Hendrick Healthcare Academy are being accepted until April 30. To learn more and to apply, visit hendrickhealth.org/workforcedevelopment and click on “For Students” or email Brockway at tbrockway@hendrickhealth.org.
