The lit Christmas tree atop Hendrick Medical Center in north Abilene marks the Light Up a Life fundraiser to benefit Hendrick Hospice Care.
Hendrick Hospice Care is a nonprofit and the oldest hospice in the area, serving Abilene and a 65-mile radius since 1983. End-of-life care is provided at Hendrick Hospice Care Center and in homes, nursing facilities, assisted living facilities and hospitals. Bereavement services also are available, such as Club Courage for children.
“Your generosity during this campaign allows us to provide end-of-life care with compassion and dignity to every one of our neighbors who arrives at our door,” said Brad Benham, Esq., vice president for Hendrick Medical Center Foundation.
During the 2022 fiscal year, Hendrick Hospice Care provided more than $400,000 in charity care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
In addition to the Christmas tree at the hospital, Hendrick Hospice Care also set up a 20-foot decorated tree at the Mall of Abilene. For a $20 gift, a name can be added to a paper bulb ornament on the Light Up a Life tree near Best Buy and Books-A-Million.
A financial gift also can be made to honor someone on a brick ($250), paver ($500) or engraved leaf on a wall display ($500) at the hospice center. Or, become a Hospice Star by pledging $20 per month for one year.
Donations to the Light Up a Life campaign can be made at the secure website hendrickhospice.org. Every dollar contributed to the Light Up a Life campaign goes toward patient care.
