Hendrick Health welcomes Prabhu Deepak Udayakumar, MD, to Abilene to practice rheumatology. Dr. Udayakumar most recently served in Minnesota as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Minnesota and a staff rheumatologist at Fairview Clinics. Dr. Udayakumar completed his rheumatology fellowship and post-doctoral certificate in clinical and translational science at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He earned his medical degree at Madras Medical College in India and served as chief resident in the internal medicine residency program at the University of North Dakota.
“Though I practice evidence-based medicine, I have learned to put my faith in Jesus Christ above the medications I use,” said Dr. Udayakumar.
He has published multiple scholarly works on rheumatology. He is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology and is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association, and American College of Rheumatology.
Dr. Udayakumar believes that everyone is created in the image of God and deserves equal care. He chose to work at Hendrick because of its powerful mission to deliver healthcare consistent with the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. He and his wife, Dr. Adlene Jebakumar, internal medicine, are elated to be in Abilene with their four children.
