Hendrick celebrates organ donation month with special program and flag raising, April 17

In honor of National Donate Life Month, Hendrick Health is partnering with Southwest Transplant Alliance (STA) to celebrate and raise awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation, Wednesday, April 17 at 9 a.m.

A brief program is planned to honor organ donors and their families, organ recipients and those who continue to wait for a transplant. Donor families will participate in raising the Donate Life flag at the flag pole in front of the main entrance to Hendrick.

Southwest Transplant Alliance works with Hendrick as the bridge between those who make the decision to donate their organs and those needing a lifesaving organ transplant throughout Texas. With STA’s help, in 2018 Hendrick Health was able to recover 14 organs from four donors. From those 14 organs, 13 lives were saved. 

Additionally, a table will be set up outside of the Archway Café at Hendrick to provide education about organ donation and offer an opportunity to register to become a donor, from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
