The guns beat the hoses in the eighth annual Guns and Hoses Rodney Holder Memorial Blood Drive on Wednesday, June 27. This year, 283 donors gave during the blood drive, breaking last year’s record of 238 donations. The final tally was 148 for law enforcement and 135 for fire and rescue.
“Every donor who participated is a hero in our community,” said Frances Baker, donor recruiter at Hendrick Regional Blood Center. “Rodney Holder was a blood donor, and this blood drive is a great way to honor his memory each year.”
Participants were able to donate at one of the two bloodmobiles at the KTAB/KRBC studios or at Hendrick Regional Blood Center. Each donor received a pint of ice cream and patriotic T-shirt.
