Inpatient Rehabilitation

Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation offers a 31-bed Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (CIRU) which serves West Texas and outlying regions. OurCIRU provides patients with a personalized intensive therapy program focusing on increasing independence and safety needed to return to the community. The multi-disciplinary team evaluates the patient’s abilities and customizes a program to help reach their goals. Each patient’s progress is monitored throughout their stay focusing on medical management, self-care skills, mobility skills, communication and cognition. Discharge planning is focused on from the beginning of a patient’s stay to help prepare for a smooth transition.

CIRU is staffed by a highly-trained multi-disciplinary team including:

Physical medicine and rehabilitation physician
Rehabilitation nursing
Physical therapy
Occupational therapy
Speech/language therapy
Respiratory therapy
Social worker
Clinical dietician

We offer specialized treatments such as Bioness, Vital Stim, Strain Counterstrain technique, Craniosacral technique, Neurodevelopmental Technique and Negative pressure wound therapy. We also offer aquatic therapy in a therapeutic, heated pool when indicated for treatment.
