Community Health Needs Assessment

Demonstrating Community Need

As part of the Affordable Care Act, tax-exempt hospitals are required to complete a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) once every three years. In 2022 and again in 2025, a CHNA was conducted and identified the greatest health needs in our community. The 2025 report includes a comprehensive assessment of Taylor, Brown and Callahan Counties, Texas.

The analyses include a careful review of the most current health data available, demographics and input from numerous community representatives. The process culminates in the development of an Implementation Plan to address the significant needs identified through the CHNA. The CHNA reports were presented to and approved by the Hendrick Medical Center and Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood boards on August 7, 2025. The 2023-2025 Implementation Plans for Hendrick Medical Center and for Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood are complete and available to download below; however, the 2026-2028 Implementation Plans are in process and will be available by January 2026. Hendrick Medical Center and Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood will utilize their 2026-2028 plans as a guide over the next three years to offer programs that support the health of the community and the mission of the organization.
